Cement-Price Hikes Pause in June |

¡¡¡¡Portland cement prices held steady this month after posting three consecutive monthly increases. This pause left prices at the beginning of June 1.3% above a year ago¡ªthe largest year-to-year increase since June 2007, when prices jumped 7.5% for the year. Prices for ready-mix concrete are up between 1.0% and 2.3% from June 2009¡¯s level, according to ENR¡¯s 20-city average price. Concrete prices posted an average increase of 6% last year, while increasing less than 1% in 2008. This June¡¯s 0.3% price increase for liquid paving asphalt lifted prices to $326 a ton for PG-58, which is 5% higher than 2009¡¯s price level. |
